CBP Field Operations Seizes Over $2 Million Worth Of Methamphetamine At Hidalgo International Bridge

HIDALGO, TexasU.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested a woman from Houston, Texas after discovering $2,446,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle she was driving.

“This was an excellent discovery of hard narcotics, amid the travel restrictions we are currently operating under,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/ Anzalduas. “This exemplifies OFO’s commitment and continued resolve to prevent drugs from crossing our borders.”

On May 23, a CBP officer at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge encountered a brown 1999 Ford F150 pickup driven by a 20-year-old woman and referred her for further inspection.

The secondary inspection, which included utilizing non-intrusive imaging equipment (NII), resulted in officers discovering 122.3 pounds (55.48 kg) of alleged methamphetamine hidden within the truck’s gas tank.

CBP OFO seized the narcotics, the truck, and arrested the woman from Houston, ultimately turning her over to the custody of agents with Homeland Security Investigations who continue with the investigation.
