KYLE, TEXAS – The Central Texas Food Bank in partnership with the City of Kyle and Texas Disposal Systems is hosting a Mass Food Distribution on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9 AM – 12 PM at Lehman High School, 1700 Lehman Road.
Central Texas residents facing food insecurity can drive to the event to receive a box of assorted produce, milk, and a protein box.
Actual contents may vary depending on availability. All are welcome and no registration is required.
In response to the public health crisis, Central Texas Food Bank distributions have been converted to a drive-thru model and volunteers place food into each vehicle’s trunk.
The food bank is asking that each household only send one person to the event and that all attendees come in vehicles — there will be no walk-up distribution — to adhere to social distancing requirements.
The Central Texas Food Bank has also signed on to host additional Mass Food Distributions in Kyle in January, February and March.
“Central Texas Food Bank’s invaluable partnership has allowed us to serve our residents that have been hard hit by this pandemic and we are incredibly grateful to see it continue into 2021,” Kyle Council Member Michael Tobias said.
From May through November, citywide Mass Food Distributions have provided food for 7,779 households, with a total of 34,429 individuals served.
Traffic for the event will begin as early as 6 or 7 AM. Drivers are advised to avoid the Lehman High School area during the event, if possible, due to the increased traffic.
Volunteer sign up for the December Mass Food Distribution has already been filled. But volunteers will be needed for Mass Food Distribution events in Kyle in January, February, and March.
More information on how to volunteer will be made available closer to the events.
