The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983.

San Marcos, Texas – Adventist Health System (AHS), which includes Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC), has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review, a national health care publication, as one of the top places to work in healthcare.

The 2018 “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare” list highlights hospitals, health systems and health care companies that, among other things, promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth.

“CTMC is honored to be ranked with this select group. Our team members are the heartbeat of our healthcare ministry, and we want them to feel appreciated, engaged and excited about their opportunities to grow in our organization,” shared CTMC President and CEO Anthony Stahl.

Becker’s Hospital Review noted that Adventist Health System works to promote personal, professional and spiritual growth with its workplace culture; provides opportunities for employees to take part in mission trips; and encourages maintaining a healthy lifestyle through its wellness program.

One of 46 Adventist Health System hospital campuses, CTMC caregivers and team members work to advance the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ in San Marcos and the surrounding communities. CTMC employs 700 team members and works with more than 300 physicians. With 178 beds and 12 outpatient facilities, the hospital provides 70,000 patient experiences each year. Services include an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Primary Stroke Center, da Vinci Robotic Surgery program, Women’s Center, Wound Care Institute, Rehabilitation Center, Home Health care and Hospice care.
