Danny Kaspar is currently the 18th winning-est coach in Division I with over 470 wins in his 24 year career. In his first season at Texas State, helped the Bobcats to their best defensive performance in over 15 years and the third best performance since 1983, as the Bobcats led the Sun Belt with just 66.0 points allowed per game. This season, Kaspar’s team held an opponent to 31 points at Strahan Coliseum, the fewest since 1957. Texas State has been ranked in the top 15 nationally this season in scoring defense, averaging under 60 points allowed per game.
During his career he has led his teams to two NIT appearances and one NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009 against Syracuse. He has fielded numerous NCAA leading scoring defenses in his career including the top in the country in both 2010-11 and 2012-13. Following the 2012-13 season, Kaspar received the NABC’s Hugh Durham Award, was named the 2012-13 NABC District 23 Coach of the Year, TABC Coach of the Year and Southland Conference Coach of the Year.
