Hays County Chief Appraiser Grants 30-Day Extension On Business Personal Property Renditions

Hays County Chief Appraiser, Laura Raven, is granting an automatic 30-day extension for Business Personal Property RenditionsHays County.

The extension moves the deadline from April 15 to May 15.

Section 22.01 of the Texas Property Tax Code requires owners of business personal property to render for taxation all personal property used for the production of income.

Examples of business personal property include computers, chairs, desks, office supplies, business inventory, machinery and vehicles used to produce income.

All businesses owned and managed on January 1, 2020, must report that property to the Hays Central Appraisal District.

If a rendition is not filed, filed late or not complete, a 10 percent penalty may be imposed. The appraisal district mailed personal property renditions earlier this year to businesses known to have been operating during 2019.

However, all businesses are required to file renditions whether or not they received notification. Visit www.hayscad.com to file a rendition electronically using the Online Forms portal or to locate a rendition form (50-144) and A Guide to Personal Property Rendition under the Forms tab.

Hays Central Appraisal District develops and administers property records and provides appraisal roll services to the taxing jurisdictions located in Hays County.

The district remains dedicated to serving the property owners and taxing entities in their jurisdiction with professional, respectful and courteous service.

Hays Central Appraisal District (Hays CAD) has closed the building to public access until further notice.

According to officials, Hays CAD is working with minimal staff in the office in compliance with orders from state and local government authorities amid concerns about COVID-19.

Residents may send questions via email to info@hayscad.com or by fax to (512) 713-0563. A dropbox is located at the front of the building at 21001 N. I35, Kyle, Texas, for business owners’ convenience.
