San Marcos, TX – Many of the Price Center’s ComDance participants affectionately known as the Price Time Dancers will be presenting a free 30-minute holiday performance titled “Christmas Around the World,” during the December 14 San Mercado at the Price Center.
In addition, the group will provide five private performances at area senior communities. The festive and fun new show choreographed and directed by ComDance instructor, Dr. Cindy Gratz, features international music and a variety of dance styles and costume changes.
“Our Price Time Dancers have such fun every time they gather,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “It’s wonderful that they’re willing to share their energy and spirit with others this way, he added.
Everyone watching the performance will enjoy familiar holiday songs and marvel at the diversity of the various dance styles and colorful costumes. “Feliz Navidad” will feature Folklorico dance and costumes, “C’est Noel,” Ballet; “Christmas in Killarney, Irish dance and costumes; “Frosty the Snowman,” Clogging; “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” Greek style; and “Christmas in Texas,” Line Dance style.
The Price Time Dancers range in age from their mid-40s to late-90s and are bound by a common love of dance, music, and having a good time.
Free dance classes are offered seven times a week at the Center. Classes range from Zumba to Clogging, Jazz, Tap, Line Dance, and Fitness.
The classes and the monthly San Mercado are made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
“Our dancers are among the best example of how the ‘magic happens’ at the Center,” said DeStefano. “First, they all defy age, but also, these former total strangers from vastly different walks, political stripes, faiths, ages, and ethnicities have become the best of friends through the classes and have helped each other weather the challenges of aging, including death of a loved one, injury, illness, and financial hardships.”
The inspiring Price Time Dancers will share their seasonal joy via private performances at Brookdale South, Cypress Healthcare, Advent Healthcare and Brookdale North Dec. 9 – 11.
