Graduates from the 2018 class of the San Marcos Fire Department’s Citizens Fire Academy accepted their diplomas during the academy’s seventh graduation ceremony on Nov. 5, 2018.

Citizens Fire Academy is a challenging 12-week program that introduces its cadets to the operations and some of the rigorous training that the San Marcos firefighters undergo. The course also provides Hands-Only CPR training and an opportunity to become familiar with automated external defibrillator (AED) use.

After graduation, CFA graduates can become involved in the Alumni Association, which assists the Fire Department in promoting public education about fire and life safety.

The next academy is accepting applications for the fall 2019 class. Information and application materials are posted online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cfa.
