San Marcos City Council To Receive Update On Garbage Service RFP

On Tuesday, the San Marcos City Council will receive an update presentation and hold a discussion regarding the City’s RFP for garbage services.

According to the agenda, the direction was given to proceed with RFP for garbage services and provide an update of progress from the September 29 city council meeting.

Staff seeks direction from the council for the garbage services RFP.

Thus far, the city staff has done research into services, which it could provide to residents through a new RFP.

These services include and more:

  • Add 35-gallon trash cart
  • Keep every other week recycling service
  • Add up to 4 cardboard boxes of recyclables
  • Keep every other week green waste service
  • Keep up to 12 paper yards bags of green waste
  • Keep 4-3 cubic yards bulk pickup
  • Increase to 40-40 yard roll-offs for Community Cleanup

Following the presentation and discussion, the city council will hold an executive session to receive advice from legal counsel regarding the process for consideration of out of city utility extension requests and state law restrictions on municipal regulation of land uses.

The council will convene at 3:00 PM for its regular work session; the meeting will be virtual.
