City Home Repair Program Helps Low-Income Austin Homeowners Recover From Recent Storm Event

Austin, TX – The City of Austin is increasing its home repair program funding by $1 million to assist Austinites impacted by the recent storm, made possible through a transfer from Austin Water.

The Housing and Planning Department’s home repair program can assist eligible homeowners who need repairs following the February cold weather event, also known as Winter Storm Uri.

“The City is gearing up for increased need for home repair services brought on by the recent unprecedented storm event,” said Housing and Planning Director Rosie Truelove. “The City continues to be grateful for the leadership of the Austin Home Repair Coalition and the nonprofits that address the home repair needs of Austin’s low-income families. The Housing and Planning Department’s priority will be to mobilize resources to address the needs of our low- to moderate-income homeowners seeking much-needed resources following the storm.”

The Housing and Planning Department is working closely with the Development Services Department and across City functions to provide an efficient response as possible for households seeking repairs.

Information related to home repairs for eligible homeowners will be posted and updated on this website the week of February 22.
