City of Austin employees from around Austin will try to reach their goal of donating 900 backpacks for students in need.
Roughly 30 students will be on site from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to select their backpacks.
The remaining backpacks will be dropped off at schools on Aug. 14; backpacks will go to 11 schools in the Austin area, including one pre-kindergarden, five elementary, two middle and two high schools as well as Gardner Belts.
More information about the 2017 Build a Backpack campaign is available at austintexas.gov/buildabackpack. Austin will be using #COABAB2017 and #BuildaBackpack2017 on social media.
