City of Buda’s Contract With Electro Purification, Inc.

The City of Buda’s contract with Electro Purification, Inc. (EP) officially expired after midnight on October 20, 2015. EP had proposed the development of a water supply project from the Trinity Aquifer in Western Hays County that was initially intended to pump up to 5.3 million gallons per day for public water supply use.
 
The Goforth Special Utility District, Clark Wilson/Anthem Development, and the City of Buda all entered into separate agreements with EP to receive water from the proposed project. Buda’s agreement, signed on January 20, 2015, would have provided the city with 1.0 million gallons per day – the least amount of the entities contracted with EP.
 
One of the stipulations of the agreement required that EP prove that the company would be able to provide the quantity and quality of the water specified within 9 months of the start date of the agreement. EP did not provide proof of a feasible project within this option period, and the agreement has therefore expired. The City of Buda continues to explore a number of options to meet future water supply needs.
