City Of Buda’s Finance Director Graduates From Certified Public Manager Program

June Ellis, the City of Buda’s Finance Director, earned the national designation of Certified Public Manager (CPM) after graduating from Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service on Monday, June 10, at the program’s graduation ceremony.

The CPM program is a nationally accredited comprehensive statewide management development program specifically for managers in federal, state, and local government and for managers in the not-for-profit sector.

It is a series of seven tracks, or courses, with the primary goal to improve the performance of public and not-for-profit sector managers and the organizational performance of federal, state, and local government.

Courses of study cover personnel administration, quality management, communication, public finance, program evaluation, and information systems.

“This 16-month program and the overall experience has been a valuable addition to my toolkit as a leader,” said Ellis. “It has helped to enhance my skills, knowledge, and abilities as a finance director and manager in public service.” 

Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service graduated 57 new Texas Certified Public Managers at the Texas State Capitol at the June 10 ceremony.

The CPM graduates and their families came from CPM Programs at the following Texas locations: San Marcos, Round Rock, Arlington, Lubbock, and Nacogdoches. Mr. Ellis was one of five graduates of the Texas State University CPM Program in Round Rock, Texas.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to complete the program,” said Ellis. 

“We wish to acknowledge Mr. Ellis’ hard work and dedication in completing the Certified Manager Program through Texas State University,” said City Manager Kenneth Williams. “This is quite a commitment which requires the sacrifice of one’s time for over a year to complete. We congratulate June on completing the Program.”
