KYLE – The City of Kyle held a General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 2 for the purpose of electing members to Kyle City Council Districts 5 and 6, each for three-year terms. Below are the unofficial election results for those races. These results will not be official until they are canvassed on Tuesday, Nov. 9.
District 6 Council Member Michael Tobias ran unopposed and won with 100% of the vote or 302 votes.
District 5 Council Member Mayor Pro Tem Rick Koch ran against challengers Donny Wills, Leah Kaufman, and Daniela Parsley. Wills received 13.3% of the vote or 236 votes; Kaufman received 22.94% of the vote or 407 votes; Koch received 36.19% of the vote or 642 votes; and Parsley received 27.56% of the vote or 489 votes.
During the Nov. 9 meeting, Kyle City Council will set a runoff election for the District 5 race for Tuesday, Dec. 7 to coordinate with other local runoff elections. Runoff elections are initiated when candidates do not meet the Majority Vote Requirement of 50% plus one vote (Texas Constitution Article XI, § 11b). The candidates for the District 5 runoff election will be incumbent Koch and challenger Parsley, the two candidates who received the highest number of votes.
