City of Kyle hosts Mary Kyle Hartson Park ribbon cutting & Santa’s arrival

KYLE – The community is invited to join the City of Kyle for the Mary Kyle Hartson Park Ribbon Cutting and Santa’s Arrival on Wednesday, Dec. 1 from 4:30 – 9 p.m. at Mary Kyle Hartson Park, 101 S. Burleson St.

The City of Kyle encourages residents to bring their family and friends to the official kick off to the Holidays in Kyle. Since 1999, the city has invited Santa to Mary Kyle Hartson Park to take part in the downtown tree lighting event. Enjoy holiday music performed by local school choirs, photo opportunities, free activities for the children and food vendors.

The City of Kyle will be offering Santa’s Arrival attendees a first pick of retired city street signs at a discounted price of $20 apiece, giving all a chance to own a little piece of Kyle this Holiday season. Signs will also be on sale on the Kyle Style online shop for $25 apiece (plus shipping) Dec. 6-10.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for Mary Kyle Hartson Park and downtown tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m. and feature remarks from Mayor Pro Tem Rick Koch, Council Member Robert Rizo and Mayor Travis Mitchell.

Santa will be available for visiting and pictures at the Krugg Center throughout the event. Professional photos will be done by Bailey Christian Studios. They have multiple holiday photo packages available at various prices:  

    • Package A: 2 5×7 for $30  

    • Package B: 1 8×10 for $30  

    • Package C: 6 5×7 for $50  

    • Package D: Digital image for $30  

    • Package E: 1 8×10, 2 5×7 & 8 wallet size for $45  

    • Package F: 3 8×10, 4 5×7 & digital image for $100  

The line for photography at Santa’s Arrival will be cutoff at 8:30 p.m. but other Santa photo opportunities will be available in December at Mary Kyle Hartson Park.

Throughout the month of December, the Kyle Parks and Recreation Department will host the 25 Days of Christmas that will feature nightly holiday lights along with Christmas music, live music, vendors, Santa photo opportunities and more at Mary Kyle Hartson Park. The Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers all month long starting with Santa’s Arrival on Dec. 1 and going until Dec. 23 for a variety of winter and holiday events and activities at Mary Kyle Hartson Park.
