For more information about the Music on the Square concert series, contact the Main Street office at 512-393-8430 or mainstreet@sanmarcostx.gov.
During the kickoff event, the City of San Marcos will receive the official designation of Music Friendly Community from the Texas Music Office. Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will present the designation at 7 p.m. The designation ceremony will include remarks from councilmember Melissa Derrick, Tara Miller of the Rock Bottom String Band, and David Beck.
Certification as a Music Friendly Community follows a months-long process that included a Texas Music Office-sponsored workshop, collaboration with local music education programs, and the establishment of an advisory board made up of local music industry stakeholders. Participation in the program provides communities across Texas a network for fostering music industry development and growth.
