City Offering Life Long Learning Classes
 
San Marcos Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Texas State University’s Retired Faculty and Staff Association (RFSA) is offering two new Life Long Learning courses for the greater San Marcos area.
 
People can register for these classes by calling 512.393.8400 or signing up in person at the Parks and Recreation Main Office at 401 E. Hopkins or the San Marcos Activity Center at 501 E. Hopkins. You can also register online at https://recconnect.sanmarcostx.gov .
 
“The San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is excited to continue its partnership with the Retired Faculty and Staff Association,” said Nick Riali, Recreation Program Specialist. “We are currently working on additional enrichment courses that will be offered this fall.”
 
The classes are primarily for those age 50 and above, but adults of any age are welcome to register. The classes will be offered over the months of June and July. Classes will meet once a week for five weeks:
 
How to Better Use Your Digital Camera
 
Let’s work on your digitals together so you will get the most out of your camera.  Bring your camera, the manual, and all of your questions.    
Location:  San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins
When:  Wednesdays June 3, 10, 17, July 1 and 8
Time: noon to 1:30 p.m.
Presented by Don Anders, a San Marcos photographer for 45 years and Texas State University’s official photographer for 35 years.

Introduction to Meditation and Sound of Yoga   
 
Learn the beauty of stillness in meditation. Gentle yoga sets of movement and breath work will be a prelude to meditations. We will be doing several different types of meditations with symphonic gongs or Tibetan singing bowls augmenting your experiences. 
Location: San Marcos Fish Hatchery, 206 North CM Allen Parkway
When:  Mondays June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29
Time:  2 – 3:15 p.m.
Presented by Jerry Kimmel, a certified Kundalini Yoga KRI teacher and assistant director of the new Community Yoga Center in San Marcos.
