City Seeks CDBG Grant Funding Applications, Will Hold Applicant Workshop

The City of San Marcos will accept applications through 5 p.m. Feb. 29 from non-profit organizations that wish to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for a program or project that benefits low-to-moderate income San Marcos residents.

An applicant workshop will be held Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Activity Center, 501 E Hopkins Street.  The workshop will cover details of the application process, eligibility requirements, and compliance requirements for agencies that receive funding.  All interested parties are invited to attend.  Assistance will be available for Spanish-speaking persons with limited English proficiency.

Applications may be downloaded from the City’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cdbg.

Eligible projects must satisfy national CDBG program objectives and address one or more of the established priority needs of housing, transportation, infrastructure improvements, public facilities, clearance, or public services. “Public Services” are programs operated by a government or non-profit agency that benefit low-to-moderate income individuals.

The 2016 allocation amount has not been announced by HUD at this time, but the City anticipates receiving approximately $500,000. The 2016 program year will begin Oct. 1, 2016.

For additional information about the CDBG program contact Janis Hendrix, Community Initiatives Administrator, at 512.393.8147 or by e-mail at jhendrix@sanmarcostx.gov.
