The 36th annual SummerFest will open at 6 p.m. on July 4 at San Marcos Plaza Park, 201 N. CM Allen Parkway, featuring live music, food booths, vendors, and fireworks.
Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. with live music by the Adam Johnson Band at the park’s stage. Children’s costume contest registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., and Children’s Parade line-up will begin at 6:50 p.m. Registration will be held in front of the Old Fish Hatchery Building. The parade will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Participants will parade through the park, and winners will be announced in a ceremony that begins at 7:30 p.m.
Costumed kids will be judged in “most patriotic” and “cutest divisions” with prizes awarded in each category and a “best overall” named. The costume competition has been growing steadily over the last several years and is a highlight of the event.
Adam Johnson Band kicks the festival off at 6 p.m. The headliner, Wyzer, will follow at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be local vendors, food and activity booths, and of course a phenomenal fireworks display. This year’s fireworks exhibition is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. SummerFest is a free, community wide event for the whole family to enjoy.
