City to conduct School Zone Light Testing

SAN MARCOS — Next week, the City’s Public Works Department will inspect traffic signals within school zones. Crews will also restripe faded crosswalks and stop bars in school areas.

Crews will test the flashing school zone lights in the morning and afternoon on Tuesday, August 17. The school zone speed limit will not be enforced during the test period.

Upon completion of testing, the flashing traffic signals will not be reactivated until school begins. Students at Hays CISD’s Blanco Vista Elementary return to class Thursday, August 19. The first day of school for San Marcos CISD is Monday, August 23. Drivers are asked to slow down when traveling through work zones and school zones.
