The City of San Marcos will hold a stakeholder workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. to receive citizen input on the proposed use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the 2016 program year. The workshop is open to the public and will be held in the Old Fish Hatchery Building, 206 North C. M. Allen Parkway, San Marcos.
CDBG funds are provided by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and are used for projects that benefit the city’s low-to-moderate-income residents.
The workshop will provide information about the San Marcos CDBG Program. Those attending will have an opportunity to complete a community needs survey and to ask questions about the CDBG program.
A Spanish-speaking interpreter will be available at the workshop to assist individuals who have limited English proficiency.
The Community Needs Survey, available in both English and Spanish, lists a variety of eligible programs and projects and allows the selection of up to three items that should be considered priority needs for CDBG funding. Survey forms will be accepted through Friday, April 8 and can be returned by: (1) delivery to 317 N. LBJ Drive; (2) mail to the City, Attention CDBG program, 630 E Hopkins Street, San Marcos, TX 78666; or (3) by e-mail to jhendrix@sanmarcostx.gov.
The results of the survey will be provided to the City Council for their consideration as part of the annual allocation process.
The City is accepting grant applications through Feb. 29. Applications can be downloaded from the City’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cdbg.
