‘Come Grow With Us’ – HCWC’s 32nd Annual Auction

Our 32nd Annual Auction is right around the corner, and that means that we’re in high gear collecting items and planning some extra special surprises for this year’s event. Auction Chair, Kay Wilson wants you to know, “we have a huge variety of items up for bid this year. A dream vacation to Barbados, beautiful fine jewelry, original artwork, gift certificates to local restaurants and business, sports packages, a Yeti cooler, a Go Pro camera, wireless Bose earbuds, children’s gifts and much more. There is something for everyone!” Ticket prices are just $35 per person again this year, and that includes a Black’s BBQ dinner and access to all the bidding. This is truly a community event and YOUR PRESENCE and support makes all the difference. “Come Grow With Us” is the theme this year that underscores the growing demand for our services and our continued commitment to expanding our services and facilities to meet the need.

Last year, HCWC provided face to face direct services to 1,743 victims of abuse. There was a 19% increase in 24-hour hotline calls, 54% increase in sexual assault hospital response and 8,455 safe nights were provided to adults and children at the McCoy Family Shelter. In the last decade, services to victims of family violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and child abuse have increased by 58%! Due to this tremendous demand for services, HCWC was able to add direct service staffing by 22% but already, services are at capacity and the need to expand services is steadily growing. There are plans to add forensic medical exams for children on-site, services offered in other towns in Hays and Caldwell county (such as Buda, Kyle, Wimberley, Dripping Springs, Lockhart, Luling) and planning for an 18 – 24 month transitional housing program at HCWC’s campus are underway.

As a former shelter client once said, “Everything happens for a reason. Situations fall apart so BETTER things can fall together.” This year, help clients find those BETTER days and “Come Grow With Us” by attending our upcoming Annual Auction on Saturday, April 2nd at 6:00 pm at Texas State University, LBJ Ballroom. For tickets or to contribute to the auction, call 512-396-3404 or visit hcwc.org.

The Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center has a 39-year history of serving women, men and children in Hays and Caldwell Counties who are victims of family violence, dating violence, sexual assault and child abuse. All HCWC services are free and confidential. For more information, please visit hcwc.org or call (512) 396-HELP.
