The Hays County Commissioners Court has proclaimed May as National Preservation Month in Hays County, and in doing so thanked the members of the Hays County Historical Commission for their work in preserving the history of Hays County.

From caring for historic buildings and cemeteries, for ensuring that road markers are placed to recognize significant routes and events along those routes, and through the operation of a museum and visitors’ center in the Hays County Courthouse, the Historical Commission volunteers are a valuable asset for helping residents remember and learn from the past, said Hays County Judge Bert Cobb, M.D.

The Commission also produces high-quality documentaries of persons and events in Hays County and researches properties for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The Commission’s website is at www.hayshistoricalcommission.com. The active group has been recognized numerous times by the state’s Texas Historical Commission for its numerous activities.
