Commissioners Court Thanks Crime Stoppers With Proclamation

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court on Tuesday proclaimed January as Crime Stoppers Month and thanked the organization and the public for their help in solving crimes.

Hays County Crime Stoppers has facilitated more than 695 arrests, cleared over 831 cases, paid out more than $75,000 for tips, and recovered nearly $305,000 in property, $12 million in illegal drugs, and more than $12.8 million in narcotics seized by law enforcement officers based on tips.

According to Texas Crime Stoppers, Texas Crime Stoppers organizations are community-based partnerships formed by dedicated citizens, law enforcement, and the media.

They work together toward a common goal: the reduction of crime and the arrest and conviction of criminals and fugitives statewide.

Local Crime Stoppers organizations are designed to serve as a vehicle for citizens to relay criminal information to law enforcement agencies while remaining anonymous.

Since inception in 1981, Texas Crime Stoppers has grown from 8 certified organizations to approximately 150 certified community and campus organizations.

These organizations are run by dedicated volunteers, making it a cost-effective tool in preventing and solving crime.

All tips are confidential and can be shared at 1-800-324-TIPS, online through the Crime Stoppers website, www.callcrimestoppers.com, or through the P3tips.com app available for cell phones at app stores.
