Commissioners Vote To Fire Hays County Fire Marshall

Staff Reports

On Tuesday, the Hays County Commissioners voted 3-2 to terminate the employment and appointment of the Hays County Fire Marshall Scott Raven.

Commissioner Lon Shell and Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra voted against the termination.

The decision was made following an executive session to consult with counsel and deliberation regarding all individual positions in the Hays County Office of Emergency Services.

The vote placed Raven on administrative leave until the effective date of his termination, May 15.

Commissioner Walt Smith said the commissioners should see an item on next week’s agenda relative to the Hays County Office of Emergency Services.

No comments regarding the termination were made by the court.
