Communication Disorders Adds Speech-Language Pathologist To San Marcos Clinic Staff

Located on Texas State’s San Marcos Campus, the speech-language and hearing clinic is the clinical training facility for the Department of Communication Disorders (CDIS). 

SAN MARCOS – Texas State University’s Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic has added Mary Sitek, M.A., CCC-SLP, to its staff to better serve the San Marcos community.

Sitek comes to Texas State from Erie, Pennsylvania, where she spent the past 23 years working in northeast Ohio public schools with students ages three through 22. She has extensive experience and training in the areas of literacy, social communication and autism spectrum disorder.

She has a special interest in utilizing technology, including the use of apps, communication devices and communication boards to improve and enhance communication.

The Texas State Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive, state of the art evaluation and intervention services to a wide range of clients with diverse cultural backgrounds and diagnoses.

The clinic’s operating philosophy is that a client’s progress is significantly enhanced when communication strategies are incorporated into a meaningful, natural environment.

Located on Texas State’s San Marcos Campus, the speech-language and hearing clinic is the clinical training facility for the Department of Communication Disorders (CDIS). 

Sitek holds a Bachelor of Arts in speech and hearing disorders, and a Master of Arts in speech-language pathology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC),  Additionally, she is licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the state of Texas.

The addition of Sitek allows CDIS to continue offering speech-language-hearing services to the San Marcos community. Hearing services will be provided by CDIS faculty Lori Stiritz, M.A., CCC-A, and Emilie Galemore, Au.D., CCC-A, by appointment.
