Communications Antenna Installation Begins At Water Tank Site

The 195 foot tall monopole will support equipment for the City’s Neighborhood Services’ telecommunications and Public Services’ wireless radio and communications.

Construction has begun on the foundation for a new telecommunications antenna near the Franklin Water Tank site within the San Marcos Cemetery.

The 195 foot tall monopole will support equipment for the City’s Neighborhood Services’ telecommunications and Public Services’ wireless radio and communications.

The antenna replaces one that is currently on top of the Franklin Water Tank at a height of 115 feet. The decommissioned water tank is scheduled for demolition once the new antenna is operational.

The expected completion date for the monopole and equipment installation is late October 2017.

The demolition of the water tank is anticipated to be complete by November 2017.

For more information on the project, please call the City of San Marcos Engineering Department at 512.393.8130.
