Congressman Pete Sessions toured the Gary Job Corps Center in addition to him being the featured speaker at the Graduation Ceremony. The Congressman has been active as a member of the Friends of Job Corps Coalition in promoting the Job Corps Program throughout the State of Texas, he has commented “the future of Texas is what is being taught throughout the Texas Job Corps programs, I am very proud to affiliated with the mission of Job Corps.”
The Gary Center is on an 800 acre campus, trains over 1400 students in over 25 vocational trades in addition to academic credentials.
Texas Job Corps graduates are working throughout the state for construction of the largest solar power fields in Ft. Stockton, law enforcement, medical and nursing assistants, electricians, overhead linesman, members of the military, college students, and cement masons to name a few of the many pursuits available.
Job Corps is a tuition-free training and education program that connects eligible 16- through 24-year-old men and women with the skills and educational opportunities they need to establish real careers. Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps serves more than 60,000 young people each year at 126 centers in 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
