CONSUMER ALERT: Homestead Designation And Unclaimed Money Solicitations

The form below has been received by many residents in Hays County…

Some of you have asked about this after receiving a “Hays Designation Request Form” in the mail from a company called “Homestead Designation Services.” They ask for you to complete the form and then submit a $45 fee. We’ve included a picture of the form in this post.

Harris County put out a consumer alert about this. Read more below.

Consumer Alert: Homestead Designation and Unclaimed Money Solicitations

There is no charge for a homeowner to file his or her own homestead exemption application with the appraisal district.

You can go to the Hays Central Appraisal District website for a homestead exemption request form at http://www.hayscad.com/. You can also call them at (512) 268-2522 if you have any questions.
