Blue Santa Seeks New, Unwrapped Gifts for Area Kids

The San Marcos Police Department is accepting donations of money and new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 12, 2014 for its annual Blue Santa toy drive.

Toy donations may be delivered to the San Marcos Police Department, 2300 S IH-35, or any of the various businesses hosting Blue Santa Donation Barrels. Monetary donations may be taken to the San Marcos Police Department through Dec. 12.

The Blue Santa program has been delivering toys to children who might not otherwise have Christmas gifts in San Marcos since 1972. It began with police officers in uniform soliciting or purchasing toys and delivering them to children in the community. Today, the program partners with various organizations throughout the community.

This year, the San Marcos Police Department is proud to partner with Endeavor Real Estate Group, who has offered the use of the former Bealls department store location at Springtown Center, 1104 Thorpe Lane, as a base of operations for wrapping and toy distribution. Volunteers wishing to help with this year’s event may help wrap gifts from 5 to 8 p.m. during several wrapping dates:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 25
  • Wednesday, Dec. 3
  • Wednesday, Dec. 10
  • Monday, Dec. 15
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17

Toy pickup is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19. Those toys not picked up will be delivered on Saturday, Dec. 20. Blue Santa applications can be found at the San Marcos Police Department, Southside Community Center, Texas Department of Health and Human Services or by visiting www.sanmarcostx.gov/bluesanta.  For more information, contact Corporal Scott Johnson at 512.754.2271 or Corporal Laray Taylor at 512.754.2270.
