Subject: “What Equality Means to Me.” Participants will write or illustrate on the meaning of equality based on the speeches and work of Dr. King. Submissions are due by January 10, and can be dropped off at the Hays County Judge’s Office located at 111 E. San Antonio St., Ste. 300 San Marcos, Texas 78666 or emailed to judge.becerr@co.hays.tx.us.
The winners will be announced at the CommonUnity Festival and the artwork will be displayed in the rotunda from January 16 through Black History Month. The submissions will be judged by a joint committee of volunteers.

The Kyle Area Senior Zone is hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Monday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Krug Activity Center in Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, 101 S. Join the Dunbar Heritage Association for the MLK March & Celebration on Monday, Jan. 17. The celebration will begin with a Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of LBJ Drive and Martin Luther King Drive at the Memorial.
