Countywide Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations

Hays County Children’s Writing and Art Contest

Subject: “What Equality Means to Me.” Participants will write or illustrate on the meaning of equality based on the speeches and work of Dr. King. Submissions are due by January 10, and can be dropped off at the Hays County Judge’s Office located at 111 E. San Antonio St., Ste. 300 San Marcos, Texas 78666 or emailed to judge.becerr@co.hays.tx.us.

The winners will be announced at the CommonUnity Festival and the artwork will be displayed in the rotunda from January 16 through Black History Month. The submissions will be judged by a joint committee of volunteers.

Hays County CommonUnity MLK Jr. Festival

Join the Dunbar Heritage Association and Hays County for the 1st Annual MLK Festival on Sunday, Jan. 16 from 4 – 7 p.m. on the Historic Hays County Courthouse lawn. Kyle Area Senior Zone Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

The Kyle Area Senior Zone is hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Monday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Krug Activity Center in Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, 101 S. Burleson St. Stop by to enjoy free refreshments and snacks on this day that honors and celebrates Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and accomplishments as an influential civil rights leader. Dunbar Heritage Association MLK March & Celebration

Join the Dunbar Heritage Association for the MLK March & Celebration on Monday, Jan. 17. The celebration will begin with a Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of LBJ Drive and Martin Luther King Drive at the Memorial. City of Kyle Martin Luther King Jr. Day Proclamation

Tune into Kyle City Council on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at around 7 p.m. for a special Martin Luther King Jr. Day Proclamation. This meeting will take place in person at Kyle City Hall, 100 W. Center St. and virtually at https://bit.ly/Kyle-10 and Spectrum 10.
