UPDATE 5:00 PM – Crime Alert: KPD And Hays County Sheriff’s K-9 Searching For Burglary Suspect

Shortly after a perimeter was established, residents reported seeing a male subject fitting the description of the second suspect jumping fences.

Update 5:00 p.m.: Kyle Police apprehended the second suspect from the burglary earlier this afternoon.

“We want to commend our officers for their quick action in capturing the first suspect and then finding the second suspect who fled within a short amount of time,” Chief Jeff Barnett said.

He added, “We extend our thanks to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and its K-9 unit for their assistance in the search. KPD also appreciates the help from those persons who called into dispatch with information about the second suspect.”

The name of the first suspect is not being released at this moment; the second suspect is a juvenile and his name will not be released.

Update: Police have one suspect in custody from the burglary in progress earlier this afternoon. A second suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early ‘20s, is on the run. KPD and Hays County Sheriff’s called off the K-9 unit and deactivated the perimeter.

Police continue to question the first suspect and are fielding calls about the other male suspect. Anyone with information about this person is asked to contact KPD (see phone numbers below). Individuals can also call 911 to report information or a sighting of the suspect. The public is asked to avoid engaging with this person; instead, call authorities immediately.

Kyle, TX — A little over an hour ago, Kyle Police Department got a call about a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Hiver in the Meadows of Kyle neighborhood.

Two males fled the scene; one was quickly apprehended by KPD and is in custody.

A second suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or 20s, fled the area on foot. KPD established a perimeter. Lehman High School, which is located north of this area, went into voluntary lock out for safety — this is a very routine procedure whenever there’s a situation near a school. A lock-out means all doors are locked and no one can enter or leave, but the school day continues as usual.

At this moment, the HCSO K-9 unit is on scene with KPD.  There is a concern that the suspect who fled may possibly be armed.

Shortly after a perimeter was established, residents reported seeing a male subject fitting the description of the second suspect jumping fences. Police are conducting house-to-house, yard-to-yard searches.

Anyone with information about this situation should call 911 or contact KPD at 512-269-0895 or 512-268-3232.

Do not attempt to engage this individual; it’s important to allow police to do their job.
