EVENT: Free Hearing Consultations

DESCRIPTION: Jasmine Burrington, Au.D., AAA-C, will offer free hearing consultations by appointment on April 9 and 10 at The Hearing Center at Live Oak Health Partners. Every person should have their hearing evaluated every 5 years and every 2 to 3 years after age 50.

EVENT: CREATION HealthCheck Community Blood Draw and Diabetes Alert Day – San Marcos
DATE: April 10
TIME: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
LOCATION: CTMC Large Community Classroom, 1301 Wonder World Dr., San Marcos, TX
 
DESCRIPTION: Register for a blood draw prior to the 29th annual CREATION HealthCheck Screening and Health Fair, which will take place on Tuesday, April 28 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Embassy Suites in San Marcos. CTMC will observe Diabetes Alert Day at the final blood draw on April 10 where free glucose checks and diabetes risk assessments will be available.
 
Hays County’s oldest and largest health fair is known for providing discounted health screenings, but this year’s participants will receive more than $500 in important health tests for a low $30 fee.
 
The basic screening panel includes:
  • Complete Metabolic Panel (screening for glucose, renal and liver disorders)
  • Lipid Panel (cholesterol with HDL/LDL breakdown, triglycerides)
  • Complete Blood Cell Count (white blood cell,, hemoglobin, hematocrit
Those who participate in a pre-event blood draw will have the opportunity to go over their results with a clinical provider at the CREATION HealthCheck event. Registration will continue through April 10. To register, please call the CTMC CREATION Health Institute at (512) 753-3818.

EVENT: Hats Off For Hospice featuring Bob Schneider
DATE: April 12
TIME: 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Texas Old Town – 1205 Roland Ln., Kyle, TX
 
DESCRIPTION: Help dreams come true by attending the 11th annual Hats Off For Hospice fundraiser on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Texas Old Town in Kyle. This year’s music entertainment is Bob Schneider. Food will be catered by Black’s BBQ. The event will feature one-of-a-kind door prizes, fun activities for kids and a live and silent auction. Tickets cost $40 or $20 without the meal. Kids under 5 are free.

EVENT: Finding Balance class for Seniors
DATE: April 22
TIME: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
LOCATION: San Marcos Activity Center – 501 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos, TX
 
DESCRIPTION: The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation has partnered with Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) Home Health to introduce a new program for seniors.
 
“Finding Balance” is an exercise class designed to help individuals 60 and older to strengthen their balance, which improves safety by decreasing the risk of falls. Added benefits include an improved confidence, enhanced strength and flexibility, a boosted immune system and a maintained or increased level of mobility. People of all activity levels are encouraged to attend.
Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing and rubber-soled shoes.

EVENT: CREATION HealthCheck Community Blood Draw – San Marcos
DATE: April 28
TIME: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
LOCATION: CTMC Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa and Conference Center – 1001 E. McCarty Lane, San Marcos, TX
 
DESCRIPTION: Participants have one last opportunity to take advantage of the low cost screenings.  Day-of-event blood draws will be offered at the 29th Annual CREATION HeathCheck Screening and Fair on Tuesday, April 28 from 7:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at Embassy Suites in San Marcos.  Hays County’s oldest and largest health fair is known for providing discounted health screenings, but this year’s participants will receive more than $500 in important health tests for a low $30 fee.

EVENT: CREATION HealthCheck Fair & Screening Event
DATE: April 28
TIME: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa and Conference Center – 1001 E. McCarty Lane, San Marcos, TX
 
DESCRIPTION: Make plans to attend Hays County’s oldest and largest health fair. More than 70 health-related exhibitors will be providing information at the event, and more than 30 of them will offer free health screenings on site. Those who had their blood drawn prior to the event will have the chance to review their results with a clinical provider at the event.
