CTMC Honors 10 Area Seniors With $1,000 Scholarships

The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983.

San Marcos, Texas – Because of their academic achievements, community involvement and future career goals, 10 area students were awarded with a scholarship from Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) at a reception on May 16.

Each of the following high school seniors received $1,000 to be applied to tuition, books and/or living expenses during their first year in college.

  • Rebecca Baergen, San Marcos Academy
  • Destinee Cabrera, Lehman High School
  • Railie Calhoun, Wimberley High School
  • Jessica Kergosien, San Marcos High School
  • Seth Luera, San Marcos High School
  • Jaden Patel, Hays High School
  • Maribel Ramirez, Lockhart High School
  • Xavia Thompson, Lockhart High School
  • Zehra Tombul, San Marcos High School
  • Zoe Zamora, San Marcos High School

As evidence of its efforts to extend its mission beyond caring for patients, CTMC has been awarding scholarships to area high school seniors since 1997. 

“Providing these scholarships year after year is one of our annual highlights at CTMC,” said CTMC President/CEO Anthony Stahl. “We are pleased to award these funds to such deserving high school seniors to assist with their college careers and wish them all a prosperous future.”
