EVENT: Cottage Kitchen

LOCATION: Charles S. Cock House Museum: 400 W. Hopkins, San Marcos
DESCRIPTION: CTMC will host the Cottage Kitchen luncheon, serving chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad, rolls and chocolate mousse. The lunch costs $8, and proceeds will benefit the Heritage Association of San Marcos for the beautification and restoration of the museum, park grounds and river walk. Cottage Kitchen started more than 30 years ago with a group of friends serving their favorite family recipes inside the beautiful and historic stone house, which is listed on the National Register.

EVENT: Free glucose checks and diabetes assessments

DESCRIPTION: CTMC offers free glucose checks and diabetes assessments on the first Wednesday of each month.

EVENT: Free Healthy Cooking Demo
DATE: May 6
TIME: 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
LOCATION: CTMC Community Classroom: 1301 Wonder World Drive, San Marcos
DESCRIPTION: The Dietary and Nutrition Team at CTMC will present a free cooking demonstration teaching guests how to prepare healthy no-cook recipes. If you are interested in attending the cooking class, please RSVP by calling the CTMC CREATION Health Institute at (512) 753-3818.

EVENT: National Day of Prayer Breakfast
DATE: May 7
TIME: 7:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa & Conference Center: 1001 E. McCarty Lane, San Marcos
DESCRIPTION: Please join CTMC to honor the National Day of Prayer. The program will include breakfast, a color guard ceremony courtesy of San Marcos Baptist Academy, a welcome from CTMC CEO/President Sam Huenergardt, a prayer from Pastor Tim Darnell and Pastor Tom Ray of Hill Country Church and music by Elisabeth Darnell. EVENT: Finding Balance class for seniors
DATE: May 20
TIME: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
LOCATION: San Marcos Activity Center – 501 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos, TX
DESCRIPTION: The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation has partnered with CTMC Home Health to introduce a new program for seniors.
“Finding Balance” is an exercise class designed to help individuals 60 and older to strengthen their balance, which improves safety by decreasing the risk of falls. Added benefits include an improved confidence, enhanced strength and flexibility, a boosted immune system and a maintained or increased level of mobility. People of all activity levels are encouraged to attend.
Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing and rubber-soled shoes. For more information, please call the CTMC Home Health office at (512) 753-3584.

EVENT: CTMC Scholarship Reception
DATE: May 20
TIME: 6:30 p.m.
LOCATION: CTMC Community Classroom: 1301 Wonder World Dr., San Marcos
DESCRIPTION: Because of their academic achievements, community involvement and future career goals, several outstanding area high school seniors will be awarded with a scholarship from CTMC. The money may be applied to tuition, books, and/or living expenses during their first year in college. As evidence of its efforts to extend its mission beyond caring for patients, CTMC has been awarding scholarships to area high school seniors since 1997.
