CTMC’s ‘Think Pink’ Events Will Raise Funds, Awareness For Breast Cancer

Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) will once again raise breast cancer awareness and support through the annual ‘pink’ activities.
In addition to the annual Mayors’ proclamation, the CTMC lantern will once again glow pink all month long as a beacon of hope for those suffering from breast cancer and their loved ones.
Several activities will help raise funds for emergency aid to cancer patients in need who qualify for the assistance.
Since CTMC began observing and fundraising locally for breast cancer in 2008, the hospital has helped raise around $140,000. ‘Pink Funding’ has helped provide transportation to patients for doctors’ appointments, pay rent and utility bills and make insurance payments.
CTMC and its 2015 Pink partners are pleased to bring these additional breast cancer related events to our area:
ALL MONTH
  • CTMC Extended Mammogram hours: Throughout the month of October, CTMC will offer extended hours for mammograms on Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. by appointment. Mammograms will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To schedule a mammogram at CTMC, call (512) 753-3661.
  • 100 FREE mammograms at CTMC: Each year, CTMC partners with Community Action to offer up to 100 free mammograms to area women who have no means to pay for one. Call Community Action at (512) 392-1161, extension 305, or e-mail Lydia Perez at lperez@communityaction.com, to get connected.
  • Tanger Pink Card Savings at Tanger Outlet Center: Tanger Outlet Centers will sell Pink Cards for $5. The cards are good for 25 percent off one item per purchase and may be used through October. Shoppers may use a physical card or use the convenient digital version. Proceeds benefit the CTMC Foundation.
Pink Party on the Patio
October 1: CTMC and Texas Oncology will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with this special event featuring entertainment by The Georges. In addition, guests will enjoy chair massages, a photo booth, refreshments, door prizes, a balloon release and a candlelight walk. Hays County’s pink fire truck will also be on site for guests to sign. After-hours mammograms will be available at the event.
Tommy Bahama Shop For A Cause at San Marcos Premium Outlets
October 3: A special sale will take place at Tommy Bahama (San Marcos). Ten percent of purchases made between noon and 4 p.m. go to the CTMC Cancer Assistance Fund.
San Marcos Academy Events (featuring cancer tributes/fundraisers)
  • October 13 – Varsity volleyball game – 6 p.m. at the Jamail Center Gym
  • October 15 – Varsity football game- 7 p.m. at SMA’s Ingram Stadium
Pink Heals Events
  • October 18 – Annual 5K – Bring the whole family out to station No. 5 in River Ridge Park for food, fun and a parade. For more information, email pinkhealshayscounty@gmail.com.
  • October 18 – 7th Annual Pink Heals Rally – National tour bus and pink fire trucks will join our local Pink Heals Hays County chapter for a day of celebration at Ramon Lucio Park. For more information, email pinkhealshayscounty@gmail.com.
  • October 17 & 18 – Pink Heals Baseball Invitational – This event is for ages 7 and up at Ramon Lucio Park. For more information, emailpinkhealshayscounty@gmail.com.
Bras for the Cause
October 29: The Women’s Council of Hill Country Realtors will host a live bra auction and runway show modeled by local firefighters. The event runs from 6-10 p.m. at the New Braunfels Civic Center.
Be The Match
November 20: Enter the “Be The Match” cancer registry so that you might donate life to someone in need. Come out to Sewell Park from 4-11 p.m. at Sewell Park in partnership with Texas State University.
