Dahlia Woods Gallery To Host ‘HealthScare’ Reading, Signing June 23

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – –  San Marcos’ newest downtown art gallery, Dahlia Woods Gallery, and its specialty book store, Bad Boy Books,  will welcome local author Clay DeStefano to read from, talk about, and sign his debut book, “HealthScare: Confessions of a Hospital Spin Doctor” on Thurs., June 23 from 7 – 9 p.m.  “HealthScare” delivers a very personal, unflinching look at the state of modern American health care by employing a punchy and engaging style that makes its contents accessible to anyone in need of health care before they take the leap.

DeStefano spent 30 years as a hospital public relations professional building goodwill and the bottom line for three of the nation’s largest health systems. His book, which was published in November 2015 by Archway Publishing, a division of Simon & Schuster, has already received nearly two dozen 5-star reviews on Amazon.com. One recent reviewer remarked, “Why this book isn’t
being discussed on all the morning talk shows is baffling.”

With the number of books sold now into triple digits, DeStefano shared he is thrilled with the response. “I want my readers to go away better informed, equipped and empowered to make better choices” he said.  “I want Americans to wake up, act out and these reviews suggest that those who have read the book are ready to do just that.”

Dahlia Woods Gallery & Bad Boy Books opened at 232 N.LBJ Drive in downtown San Marcos in late March. The event will begin at 7 p.m. with a reception of light hors d’oeuvres and wine followed by a short reading from the book at 7:30, Q & A and signing. Guests of the event will also have the opportunity to view the artwork of a dozen Texas artists that display in the Gallery, including DeStefano.
