De Zavala Elementary Teacher Wins Money For Classroom Library

De Zavala Elementary surpassed the state standards in postsecondary reading level by 15 points with a score of 27.

San Marcos Consolidated Independent School district congratulates De Zavala Elemantary school’s 4th grade teacher, Ms. Christine Rofoogar, for winning $500 to spend on her classroom library.

Out of 82,000 applications, Ms. Rofoogar’s project was selected as part of the 2017 Scholastic Book Clubs and James Patterson Partnership Giveaway.

“We are all over the moon with excitement,” Rofoogar said. “I plan on buying books that are on a range of levels and that are of high interest to my students. I want book sets, so my students can discuss the books they are reading with each other.”

Ms. Rofoogar plans on purchasing the books as soon as she receives the check and is excited to bring life to her classroom library.

“I have a lot of students who have already read all the books from our Book Library, so they are having a hard time finding new and exciting books to read,” Rofoogar explained. “With this money, I can help them access more books!”
