December Downtown Walkabout Features Decidedly Christmas Flair At Price Center

San Marcos, TX – The new 3rd Thursday Downtown Walkabout at the Price Center this Thursday night will provide one of the best free opportunities to” get your Christmas on” in downtown San Marcos. The festively festooned facility will feature Christmas sweets and treats, the live sounds of classical Christmas music played by a string quartet from the SMART orchestra, a new solo art show by local painter Sally Cummings and more than a dozen uniquely designed handmade Christmas stockings created by Bee Friends, a local Bee that quilts monthly at the Center.

Guests to the Center on December 15 from 6-9 p.m. will be sure to enjoy a variety of picture perfect settings from the historic 1893 Chapel and 1910 Room to the Tea Room and main Parlor, featuring one-of-a-kind displays including four separate Christmas trees covered in original handmade ornaments and wonderful seasonal florals and garlands.

In addition, three separate personal holiday ornament collections, including more than two dozen reindeer, favorite family Nativities from the personal collections of Price Center  “family members” and a Santa Claus collection spanning more than 50 years featuring more than  50 figures, all help to create plenty of photo opportunities.

Speaking of photos, the Price Center is also participating in Main Street SMTX’s #ElfieSelfie  promotion, so be sure to take and post your selfie with Elfie when you visit for a chance to win a Downtown Prize Pack!

Sally Cummings’ solo art show, which is hung in the lobby and Tea Room features 11 separate paintings of familiar landscapes and riverscapes from Central Texas in oils on linen. Each of the works is available for sale and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Price Center and San Marcos River Foundation.
