Traegar served over 27 years in law enforcement, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
HSCO said he spent 7 years in the Community Outreach Unit and was instrumental in upgrading and running many different programs.
Traeger was involved in programs such as the Citizen’s Academy, the Citizen’s Academy Alumni Association, Junior Deputy Academy, and the Hays County Explorer Post.
“He had many other responsibilities and the impact he made in these programs was outstanding,” HSCO said. “His dedication and professionalism will be sorely missed at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. Thanks for everything, Steve.”
