A driver was killed when he was struck by a train on Sunday morning at the McCarty Lane railroad track intersection.
On Sunday, June 14, at approximately 9:05 AM, the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD), San Marcos Fire Department, and Hays County EMS were dispatched to a major traffic collision at the railroad tracks on East McCarty Lane.
A red 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup was struck by a train, killing the driver. Witnesses report that the train crossing arms were down when the vehicle proceeded through the railroad crossing.
The driver of the truck was identified as Joe Antonio Quintero Sr. (DOB 05/31/1940) of San Marcos. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado. Next of kin has been notified.
