Dubois Gallery Pop-Up Art Event Returns

“My work explores the relationship between quintessential Suessical archetypes and multimedia experiences,” co-founder of DuBois Gallery Darin Wood, said. “As subtle replicas become transformed through studious and critical practice, the viewer is left with a clue to the edges of our condition.”

San Marcos, TX – 10 artists will be featured as the Price Center hosts the DuBois Gallery 9, a local pop-up art event, on Saturday, July 15, from 5-9 p.m. The event is free, open to the public, and will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine.

This latest installment of the DuBois Gallery will feature a variety of pieces ranging from mixed media jewelry to abstract collections.

The DuBois Gallery 9 event will also feature Kelany Brent as the musical guest. Her songs are revived arrangements of old favorites.

San Marcos is one of the many stops for the art of DuBois Gallery 9. Pieces from the Gallery have been displayed in national shows and collections across the United States.

Alumni artists returning for this show are Thom Rogers, Rene Perez, Tony Belmonte, Lisa McPike Smith, Mat Jobson, Thomas Myers, John Roof, and Darin Wood.

The group will be joined by new artists to the DuBois experience Gigi Mederos, Patrick Steger, Kayla Knadle, and Ruben Pena.

“My work explores the relationship between quintessential Suessical archetypes and multimedia experiences,” co-founder of DuBois Gallery Darin Wood, said. “As subtle replicas become transformed through studious and critical practice, the viewer is left with a clue to the edges of our condition.”

The Price Center hosts a variety of artists each month in unique, historic and repurposed venues including two former church sanctuaries. A live art gallery is a way for the Center to bring the community together through the creative process and intellectual dialogue.

“We are excited to again be hosting a DuBois Pop-Up event,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “The variety and style of art along with the regular followers of the event always create a wonderful experience.”

For more information about the DuBois Gallery event or other happenings at the Price Center, please stop by the Center at 222 W. San Antonio St., Mon. – Fri., 9-5 p.m., or call 512-392-2900.
