The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) hosted the eighth annual statewide Hiring Red, White and You! (HRWY) job fair on Nov. 7, 2019.
In cooperation with the 28 Local Workforce Development Boards, the Texas Veterans Commission, the Texas Medical Center, and Governor Greg Abbott, HRWY joined together to help connect Texas veterans and their spouses with Texas employers that value the experience, discipline, and other exceptional qualities inherent in a military background.
Over the past seven years, Hiring Red, White & You! has connected more than 84,153 job seekers, including 35,485 Veterans and 48,668 spouses, to 14,420 employers which has resulted in over 2,027 same-day hires.
Employers who hire veterans may be eligible for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which allows employers to receive up to $9,600 on federal business income or payroll tax benefits when they hire from certain qualified groups of veterans.
There are nearly 1.6 million total veterans throughout Texas, which is the 2nd highest state population of veterans in the country. For more information on resources available to veterans and their families click here.
