The Citizens Fire Academy offers a 12 week course of classroom and hands-on experience to increase fire and life safety awareness, to be aware of the services that the Fire Department provides and promote a positive image of the department to the community.

Students also learn about personal protective gear, ground ladders and aerial operations, pump operations, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials, and live fire training with full protective gear and breathing apparatus.

To register for the free academy, you must either work or live in the City of San Marcos.  Class size is limited to 15 cadets, and spots will fill quickly.
