The Texas Department of State Health Services is transitioning software, and the Hays County Clerk’s Office will be unable to issue remote birth certificates from December 28 through January 1 and possibly longer.
According to Hays County Communications Manager, Laureen Chernow, Hays County offices will be closed on January 1 and suggests calling the clerk’s office at 512-393-7738 prior to visiting if you need a birth certificate.
The Hays County Clerk’s office is located within the Government Center at 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos Texas, 78666.
For births that occurred within the City of San Marcos, certificates are available at the San Marcos City Clerk’s Office at 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666, 512-393-8090.
The Hays County Clerk’s substations in Dripping Springs, Kyle, and Wimberley will be closed January 2, 2019, for office transitioning.
