Fatal Crash Kills Husband, Injures Wife On Hwy 21

Driver Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter

A car crash on Hwy 21 in San Marcos killed a man and led to the arrest of a San Marcos woman Tuesday evening.

Emergency units responded to the 1700 block of Hwy 21 for report of a major collision involving two cars Aug. 2 at 6:05 p.m.

A Chevrolet Impala, driven by 21-year-old Shana Lee Elliott (DOB 03-15-1995) of San Marcos, was driving inbound on Hwy 21. A Toyota Corolla, driven by Kristian Nicole Guerrero, a Bryan Texas resident (DOB 06-19-1992), was travelling outbound on Hwy 21. The Impala crossed the highway center line and struck the Corolla.

Guerrero’s husband, Fabian Guerrero-Moreno (DOB 01-20-1993), was riding with her in the Corolla and died in the accident.

Kristian Guerrero was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for treatment. Elliott was taken to Central Texas Medical Center for minor injuries.

Elliott was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of Intoxication Manslaughter and one count of Intoxication Assault.

The SMPD Collision Investigation Team is investigating. Kyle PD responded to assist with the scene.

  • I hope you know you have destroyed a beautiful and with lots of future family bc of your irresponsible selfish acts, I pray that they get JUSTICE!!!!, but whatever happens to you will never compare to the damage you have done!!!

  • Why? Why did you think you were okay to drive? You took a innocent man's life. He had plans with his wife their whole life ahead of them not only that you took their unborn child's life. Justice will get served but nothing will ever make this okay. Prayers go out to the family. My heart is with yall

    • Did the baby pass away as well? Thoughts and prayers are going up for the members of Fabian and Kristian (Nikki) Guerrero families. Nikki is only 24 with her life ahead of her and I know she was planning on having her husband and children with her as her life progressed.

      • Donna, we are currently communicating with the City of San Marcos and have asked them "was there anyone else in the vehicle besides the two victims stated?", and we are awaiting their response. If we get a response, we will update the story immediately.
Sm Corridor News would also like to offer our prayers to all. You are in our hearts and prayers through this difficult time, tragedy, and beyond.

  • Donna, the City of San Marcos communications department has gotten back to us and stated that "The information we put out in the press release is all that the Police Department has made publicly available."

They did give us the name of the JP whose office has the probable cause affidavit for the arrest.

We then contacted the Judge and they stated " The arrest was for Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault with serious bodily injury. Nothing was mentioned about a 3rd person."

By an additional source we have been informed that Fabian and Kristian were in San Antonio and "had eaten dinner there and were headed home."

We're sorry, so far nothing on a "baby" or "child". San Marcos Corridor News will continue following up on this tragic event.
