Hays County, TX – October 11, 2016

If you are in need of a little extra food over the holidays and missed early registration for Hays County Food Bank’s holiday meal box program (Turkeys Tackling Hunger), we will be hosting two additional registration days this week. To qualify, you must be a Hays County resident and EITHER: have a household income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level, participate in a government assistance program (such as SNAP, TANF, SSI, NSLP, Medicaid), or have a temporary food emergency.

Holiday meal box registration will be held:

Thursday, October 13th 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm Wallace Middle School
Friday, October 14th 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm San Marcos Public Library

Please contact Hays County Food Bank at (512) 392-8300 for additional questions. If you would like to help support Turkeys Tackling Hunger, please visit www.haysfoodbank.org/donate to make a donation. We anticipate providing over 3,000-holiday meal boxes this holiday season. Help us ensure that we can meet the need of our community. No one should go hungry!

In 2015, Hays County Food Bank and its 20+ partner agencies distributed 690,397 pounds of food to an average of nearly 12,000 food, insecure residents, each month. These residents were senior citizens, children, and many others facing economic challenges. “Food insecurity” refers to the availability of food and one’s access to it. Hays County Food Bank is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the public to perform its mission.
