for Week of May 18 – May 24

 

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

THIS WEEK’S PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Closures are weather permitting

  • Posey Road bridge permanently closed over I-35. | Beginning Monday, May 13 at 7 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed at Posey Road. The frontage road will also be closed. | Friday, May 17 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 mainlanes closed between Centerpoint Road and York Creek Road. | Sunday, May 19 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • I-35 left lane closed in both directions nightly between York Creek Road and Centerpoint Road. | Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between William Cannon Drive and Foremost Drive. | Through Friday, June 7

 

  • Southbound I-35 left lane closed daily from William Cannon Drive to Corral Lane. | Through Friday, May 31 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Watch for flaggers on northbound I-35 frontage road at William Cannon Drive. | Sunday, May 19 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily at William Cannon Drive. | Monday, May 20 through Tuesday, May 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Various I-35 frontage road closures in both directions at Oltorf Street. | Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Woodland Avenue and Oltorf Street. The entrance ramp before Oltorf Street will also be closed. | Tuesday, May 21 from 10 PM until 6 AM

 

  • Watch for flaggers on the southbound I-35 frontage road between Woodland Avenue and Oltorf Street. | Sunday, May 19 through Tuesday, May 21 from 8 PM until 5 AM AND Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward Street. | Wednesday, May 22 through Thursday, May 23 from 9 AM until 3 PM AND Wednesday, May 22 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Woodward Street and Oltorf Street. The Oltorf Street exit #232 and following entrance ramp will also be closed. | Wednesday, May 22 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Alternating Oltorf Street closures in both directions nightly at I-35. | Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 from 8 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • North to southbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183. | Through Friday, June 7

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed nightly from US 290 East to US 183. | Sunday, May 19 through Friday, May 24 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed nightly between US 183 and St. Johns Avenue. | Wednesday, May 22 through Friday, May 24 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed nightly between Barwood Park and Wonsley Drive. | Sunday, May 19 through Friday, May 24 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly between Barwood Park and US 183. | Sunday, May 19 through Tuesday, May 21 from 11 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly between Hermitage Drive and US 183. | Sunday, May 19 through Tuesday, May 21 from 11 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly between US 290 and Rutherford Lane. | Sunday, May 19 through Friday, May 24 from 11 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 entrance ramp closed nightly at Powell Lane. | Tuesday, May 21 through Friday, May 24 from 11 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 closed nightly from Rundberg Lane to US 290 East. | Friday, May 31 through Monday, June 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • St. Johns Avenue reduced to one lane across I-35. | Until further notice

 

  • Powell Lane closed at I-35. | Until further notice

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with on going maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between 8th Street and Holly Street. | Sunday, May 19 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane and various ramps closed nightly between Holly Street and 15th Street | Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24 from 10 PM until 5 AM

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the County Road 305 bridge and realign County Road 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.
