Breaking: Fire Consumes San Marcos Apartment Building

Update: According to the City’s facebook page, SMPD is still trying to account for all the residents of the building damaged by the fire. Still, no injuries have been reported.

San Marcos Fire Department responded to at an apartment fire at Champion’s Crossing Apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

The fire began about 1:12 p.m. and could be seen from interstate 35 near Yarrington road.

About a dozen residents have been displaced; however, the building was evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.

Krisit Wyatt, communications director for the City of San Marcos, said they have called Red Cross to help find temporary lodgings for the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
