SAN MARCOS — The San Marcos Fire Department was dispatched to 900 IH 35 N, El Gulfo de Mexico restaurant, for a reported structure fire at approximately 10:22 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022.
According to the City of San Marcos, fire crews quickly arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the gable vents and eaves of the roof. After ensuring there were no civilians inside the structure, they accessed the attic which had flames coming from the gable vents.
The city said fire crews saw no indication of fire on the ground floor, and firefighters gained access to the attic and were able to extinguish the fire shortly after noon. There were no civilian injuries and one minor injury to a firefighter.
Fire investigators are currently conducting their investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
